Sono beach is an ideal location for ecologic and cultural tourism perfect for any one who wishes to get away from it all and relax in the middle of nature. Located within the Juatinga Ecological Nature Reserve, Paraty, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Sono beach has a range of foot paths that lead to water falls and other beaches within the Nature Reserve.
The small fishing community has approximately 350 residents, most of which belong to families that have lived in Sono beach for more than 5 generations. The residents maintain traditional activities such as fishing, planting of mandioque and production of mandioque flower. The community received electricity through the Government program 'Luz para todos" on the 19th of December 2009. |
Sono beach can be accessed by foot and by sea. The hike takes 1 hour and 30 minutes, beginning at Vila oratorio, a few meters from the last bus stop. By boat it takes 15 minutes, the harbor is located in the interior of a privately owned condominium, located next to Vila Oratorio.
